Where you been?!....  Don't worry, I'm still cranking out dessert tables to keep my sanity =D  This one was just too cute for me not to share.  Enjoy!

Madagascar Mommy

My first baby shower table, WOO-HOO! I had the pleasure of doing this for a dear childhood friend who is expecting her first little one.  We exchanged emails through Facebook and I was given total control.  All she insisted on were cookies and cake pops which I ran with.  Her choices were sooo fitting for the setting and ended up being all the rage!

Would I sound clichĂ© if I said IT’S A JUNGLE OUT THERE?  The words Hobby Lobby & 50% Off just causes a frenzy amongst some of us!  Thank goodness I have several stores to choose from in my area because the hustle and bustle at the location I was at was just too much.  Maybe I can bring myself to trust the computer monitor colors and order online next time…(I ponder)

So excited to start on this jungle baby shower dessert table!  Lions and tigers and bears, oh my… where do I begin?  Well first, I know fondant decorated sugar cookies are an absolute MUST.  Now, to just narrow down the candy choices…decisions, decisions.  I LOVE MY JOB!

Essential Baking Tools

Monday, January 17, 2011

Today’s post is so cheap of me but with good cause.  I’m still recuperating from the tragic, tragic loss of my pictures from my trip to Jamaica. As soon as I got ready to upload them to my Shutterfly account, INVALID CARD ERROR flashed and almost brought me to tears. Right now, we are feverishly looking for a recovery company to salvage our memories. *big sigh*

Now on to business... Bake It, Display It.  These basic essentials will get you started with baking something yummy.  Then you can display your sweet treats on some of these chic platters for everyone to enjoy.  Beware, sometimes the displaying never happens... that test finger swipe in the buttercream icing can turn into half of the cake disappearing before it hits the 10" Martha Stewart cake stand.

Something Blue

Monday, January 10, 2011

Excuse the quality of these photos...UGH! This camera is doing my table a great injustice or could it be the operator? =D  Anyway (while I put the camera manual away) had a huge success at another beautiful wedding, but this time with the kiddos.  The cool whip icing cupcakes disappeared like crazy!  And, not only was the blue a match it was YUMMY! I had to make sure of that.  For some reason confectioners out there seem to limit the flavors of blue.  I have never had so much blueberry flavored candy in my life.  Nevertheless, Koppers Milkies saved the day along with some help from M&M’s.

Man, this blue is difficult… but not impossible.  And, I can just forget about ordering from the internet.  I just can’t trust the monitor.  What is a girl to do? *sigh* (hovers over a crystal ball) "I see in my near future... driving around town with little swatches of fabrics and tasting blue candy".

“What time is it?”  Oh, don’t worry about that being said at your New Year’s Eve celebration. With these stylish decorations courtesy of Martha Stewart, you are sure to have your guests ring in the new year in style and ON TIME. =)

Blue: a staple hue that men have absolutely no problem wearing.  Now when it comes to weddings, that many not be the palette your fiancĂ© wants to work with.  And, sooo the drama begins about the colors...  Future hubby not wanting to succumb to the mint and peach color palette that you’ve set your eyes on for months… “Babe, I’m not wearing PEACH”  Then you break out the waterworks and he agrees to the mint vest.  The power of a woman…=D

Hollywood Glam

The wedding was gorgeous, the bride looked fabulous and the dessert table was a hit!  With the male guests… grown men yal =D  They were going gaga over the Hot Tamales and how they could not remember the last time they had a handful of them.  Ahh, the childhood favorites triumph again! =)

While perusing through a craft store over the weekend, I came across this pretty paper book.  It was filled with sooo many different patterns and gorgeous combinations.  Of course, I wanted to use nearly every page that had something to do with this color palette.  But, I would be breaking one of my ultimate rules of KEEPING IN SIMPLE.

Pattern can really make or break a tables’ outcome. Let’s face it, we’ve all seen a dessert table or candy buffet that just had to push the envelope with big, bold patterns.  SMH. Yeah, the event had a tie-dye backdrop behind the DJ and rainbows on the menu cards.  That doesn’t mean I can/should come with some rainbow colored polka-dot goodie bags and think it’s gonna work.  No people, lets keep it simple.

Red, Black and White…  Ahhh, the timeless color combination that captures the true essence of glamorous Hollywood.  Most event planners opt for elegant black & white linens topped off with a gorgeous centerpiece filled with lush red roses to set the tone.  The most memorable setup using these colors had to be Oprah’s 2006 Legend’s Ball.  OMG, Colin Cowie did such a WONDERFUL job!  I wish I’d attended to see first hand the immaculate details with my own eyeballs, not to mention a chance to grub on the tasty menu. =)
